Revisiting Your Body
Growing up my life revolved around competitive sports (wrestling, baseball, and football) and extreme sports (skateboarding, snowboarding, and hunting). As well as 15yrs+ in the gym learning the ways of iron. the majority of these activities had an external goal in mind. Get the takedown, land the trick, lift the targeted weight.
Through High School and College wrestling I went through some life changing injuries that were difficult to shake. I found temporary relief from various different system, but decided it was not the container I belonged to.
My partner Molly later introduced me to Lomi Lomi bodywork, the ancient Hawaiian healing arts, which integrates mind, body, and spirit. This system helped me tie together my knowledge from my athletic background and my spirituality to inform how I train myself and others.
Later wildlife track and sign came into my purview. Having direct experience tracking the outside world while internally recognizing the ebbs, flows and signs in my body gave me a better road map on how my body adjusts to the environment.
I also have a history working with horses in the Western world that I had abandoned and came back to with fresh eyes from Horse-first principles. Using empathy, compassion, and relationship rather than dominance. In other words, speaking the horses language. Hearing it from the horses mouth.
All of these methods coaxed me back to one thing. My body. The internal process of my body. Our bodies are a gateway to the universe and it’s important that we come back to them, and listen deeply to them. Please join me on the journey of coming back to your body. Coming back to your universe and remembering what lies there with us.
